What’s Hot?
- Japanese funds make up 50% of the top performers in September…
- …with Japanese Smaller Companies at numbers 2 and 3 in the table.
- This was driven by buying from within Japan.
- Gold and natural resources make up the rest of the table, continuing their strong run this year.
- This was triggered by Chinese growth holding up (along with Asia as a whole).
- Biotech sneaks in at the bottom. Its large US exposure makes this fund more geared towards the ebbs and flows of the US Presidential election.
What’s Not?
- UK long dated bonds make up 9/10 funds.
- After a good August funds holding bonds with a long time until they mature have fallen back in September.
- One UK growth fund makes it into the table. Uncertainty is still a factor in the UK stock market.
- This was due to fears about higher interest rates and higher inflation, particularly if helicopter money is coming.
