After a sharp ride down in March, April saw some funds accelerating up, driven by Gold. Property bumped along the bottom, making up most of the Not Hot table.
What’s Hot
- Gold has done well this month. Gold funds take the top 3 spots with the best up 43%.
- The US is the other big winner, with smaller companies and large-cap funds both making the top 10. It’s a good showing for Baillie Gifford, taking 3 of the top 10 spots.
- The lone UK fund is a midcap fund. Do keep an eye on this area, which is one we’ve highlighted in recent teleconferences for Gold Members.
What’s Not
- Property hasn’t excited this month.
- 80% of the Not Hot funds are direct property funds.
- The remainder are two Absolute Return funds. While these two funds haven’t fallen much it’s a confused sector where care is needed. The best of the bunch is up over 10% in a month, which is quite a lot for a supposedly lower-risk sector.
