Below you will find an overview of how we built the portfolio and then the performance details for each individual portfolio including a performance chart, table and details of the most recent review.

Remember that the reviews we track here are carried out at set points during the year. If you wish to create this portfolio on a different cycle then you can do that using the tools on the site.

Portfolio Overview

This portfolio takes into account the mainstream stock market sectors including the UK.

We select the top three funds from these sectors, with the rule that each must be from a different sector. For example, imagine the top three funds were Japanese, the 4th was UK Smaller, and the 5th was European. You would select the top Japanese fund, plus the UK Smaller and European funds.

The result is that you get a tighter focus on funds that have the temperature of their market.

Sectors:  (UT) Asia Pacific Excluding Japan, (UT) Europe Excluding UK, (UT) European Smaller Companies, (UT) Japan, (UT) North America, (UT) North American Smaller Companies, (UT) UK All Companies, (UT) UK Equity Income, (UT) UK Smaller Companies

Fund selection:  Best three funds, with the proviso that each fund is from a different sector 

Review period:  6-monthly 

Our review cycles:  April/October, June/December

To re-create this portfolio on a different review cycle go to Best Funds by Sector > Unit Trusts only and select each of the sectors mentioned above. You can then sort the results by 6-month performance and select the best performing funds from across these sectors.
